Promotion on soundcloud (how to promote your track using soundcloud) Today I will tell you how to promote your music on soundcloud properly. But first a word about the advantages of soundcloud: So they have a really nice widget . You can use it on your page or somewhere on the forum asking for the opinions on your music but... ...most normal listeners (who aren't musicians) don't have a soundcloud account. When they listen to your track, they won't leave you any hearts or comments. And you know how stupid it looks on soundcloud, don't you? That's just one of the reasons why it's a really really  bad idea  to stream your track with FEATURE.FM So to attract the attention and earn those few likes/comments you will have to leave a lot of likes on other people's tracks (that you won't even listen) and write a lot of ambitious comments like: Great track! WHY NOT TO USE FEATURE.FM - REVIEW

I've spent some money for an experiment, so you don't have to! So I had this quite good song. I gathered some opinions from my "target" (people who are listening the artists I consider sounding similar to me - those who inspire me a lot). The opinions were good. Now, I should explain that I don't bother about different musicians' opinion too much as 99% of them just like and create something completely different than me. That's one of the reasons I abandoned getting and writing reviews on forum for songwiters. Read: WHY I ABANDONED A REVIEW GROUP So I decided to try feature.fm as they were supposed to provide some useful data. The data analysis I received from them looks like this: -everybody listens to the whole song, -there are no 'skips' -there is no interaction at all. In fact it looks like... nobody listens. MAXIMAL SOUND MASTERING REVIEW

Maximal Sound review: For sure it's making the track louder. Much louder so it can compete in this volume war quite easily. It doesn't destruct the sound as much as I could suspect. But it depends on mix and recording a lot. It just adds a lot of "air" frequencies. So if the recording has any hissing (even the slightlest) this mastering will make the hiss REALLY loud and destroy all of your mix which could previously sound quite normal. Also if you plan to use this mastering, don't add too much this highest frequencies while mixing. Adding those frequencies two times it's just too much... According to the reviews it works well with electronic tracks. But I was surprised how it worked on this track of mine which isn't so "electronic". ALGORITHMIC MASTERING. NOT AS BAD AT ALL!

ONLINE ALGORITHMIC MASTERING?  Not as bad at all! What is algorithmic mastering? Basically mastering done online within few minutes by algorithm, not by a human being. You upload the track, after few minutes your mastered track is ready to download. I'm not good at science, so you will have to find more information on yourself if you are curious how it works in depth. MELODYNE? WHAT FOR!

Melodyne? What for? I remember one guy from a review group for singers/songwriters that was singing worse than me (it's sooo difficult! I'm a terrible singer!) but for some strange reason didn't bother to use melodyne/autotune. I suspect it had something to do with some strange kind of pride. For God's Sake. I don't care about your pride, you idiot! The only thing (actually two) I care about are my ears. I'm spending my time and energy for listening to your song and give you my honest opinion and you don't have even enough decency to care about my ears! If your strategy is to be natural while you can't sing in tune/pitch for any reason... well, I don't have any advice to you. I just would like you to stop to torture me. I'm quite sure the whole rest is thinking the same, they are just too nice to say it to you openly. I once said in a form of joke (it was really, really soft and nice as for me) and it looked like this guy felt offended.

Why I abandoned getting and writing reviews on forum for songwiters. Now, I should explain that I don't bother about different musicians' opinion too much as 99% of them just like and create something completely different than me. That's why I abandoned getting and writing reviews on forum for songwiters. I know that they are bored when listening to my music exacly in the same way I am bored while listening to their songs. Apart of them they are just trying to be nice, right? They are always nice and say your track is great, because they just want to hear the same from you.
